Yes, if you are transitioning from avocational hobbyist to company engaging in commerce with other companies, its a new area of study for you. www.catchthemoonmusic.com does an online free webinar explaining a bit about the Synch. market, a global market that has grown tremendously with so much 'content' on TV with a desire/demand for music. Bruce sings there are "fifty-seven channels and nothin' on" and he's right about everything but the number. Time to learn. To engage you have to be able to 'clear' a piece of 'broadcast ready' recording for 'copyright' and 'ownership of the master', to the satisfaction of the buyer. So, if you don't already know how, time to learn. www.copyright.gov in the U.S. Other entities in other countries. Owning the Master is a matter of the contract you sign if someone else is doing the 'Producing' and 'Recording'. Sometimes, whether the musician knows it or not, the Producer intends to 'own' the Master, therefore requiring their approval for any contractual use. Lots to learn. Time to do it.
